About Dynamic Instruction
Hi, and welcome to Dynamic Instruction Behavioral Health!
We are a BCBA owned and operated small business that started from a heart of helping others. The owner, Trina Purdy, is a licensed and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. She was formerly a special education teacher for many years in Ohio and Florida and has managed behavior units in schools, residential treatment facilities and also worked for the state of Florida in their behavioral health unit in Fort Myers. Trina has years of experience working with the neurodiverse population, and also works with neurotypical children and adults (with no diagnosis) who struggle with behaviors.
Her “specialties” in behavior therapy are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Sensory Processing Disorders, Speech Delays and more.
She advocates for disabilities and mental health and has trained law enforcement and first responders on compassionate and appropriate interactions with the neurodiverse population.
Her latest endeavor is designing and implementing sensory rooms and training the volunteers and staff.
Trina's Approach
The treatment approach is holistic to consider the "whole person", uncover the underlying causes and unique variables that plays a role in every client’s life. She provides education, training, coaching support and practical, relevant feedback to help clients (and their families) resolve current problems and long-standing patterns so that they can go on to live life to the fullest. She incorporates a blend of conventional and alternative approaches, drawing upon an eclectic variety of techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client.
While she may incorporate ABA (applied behavior analysis) in some of programs, the application of ABA is a far cry from the type of ABA suspected to have formerly caused trauma years ago. Goals are not to “fit in” but are based on what the client and their loved one’s feel are most important to achieve a higher quality of life. With sensitivity and compassion, humor and a diverse perspective, she endeavors to build on client's strengths, help them heal and grow from past (or current) trauma, and/or identify and achieve their life goals.
