Teens and the homework battle!

Want to put homework battles behind you? Just make an observation!

“I notice you haven’t started your homework yet. What’s your plan for that?”

This puts the responsibility of their homework and the consequences on them. And, it says, I trust you to make the right choice since you are the one in control and it is YOUR choice, your education, not mine. I am only a guiding force to encourage you.

It is not ok when our teen’s homework means more to us then it does them.

Don’t dictate. Hand over the control….and the results of their action or inaction…whatever that may be. Now, if it their lack of responsibility continues to be a trend, then that is a whole other conversation to be had. Or, if there may be some mental health crisis or physical health issues, do not hesitate to seek help.
